Level 2 Academic Writing is an eight-week course that has been designed to help master the basic skills needed to write effectively. Its lessons and activities will increase the learners’ understanding of the mechanics of writing including: grammar, vocabulary, spelling and sentence structure. Students will also learn how to apply the various steps in the writing process, which will help them to become a more confident writer. This course emphasizes basic writing tasks related to life roles such as completing medical forms, order forms and job applications. Learners write short reports and messages to fellow coworkers. Prerequisite: TABE 2.0-3.9 or consent of instructor; Compass writing 1-47 and E-WRITE 1 or 2; or COMPASS writing 1-20 and E-WRITE 3. Note: You must enroll in Academic Writing 1, 73-851-717 and Academic Writing 2, 74-851-727 within the same semester -same time, days, and instructor.
