Fundamentals of Family Childcare (formerly known as Family Day Care Part 1 and 2) is an overview course of topics related to beginning and operating a quality family day care home business, licensing and business requirements, resources, professionalism, special issues of care for each age group, and school age care with mixed ages. Course emphasis is on what children need as they grow and how providers can meet those needs. Other topics discussed: child development, child guidance, environments, first aid, safety and communicable diseases, nutrition and feeding, and activities. Prerequisite: Intro to Childcare Profession (formally known as Assistant Childcare Teacher). You must be 18 years of age to register for this class. "Fundamentals of Family Childcare ONLINE" is taught using MATC's online Blackboard software; students do not have to be online at any particular time of the day.
