"Pilates" is a beginning course in the exercises of Joseph H. Pilates, emphasizing core strength, flexibility, balance, and breath work. In "Self Defense for Women" we will discuss how to avoid or cope with life threatening situations and cover various physical techniques to protect yourself such as hand techniques, kicking, and more; girls ages 12 to 17 may enroll if their mothers are enrolled and attending as well - otherwise students should be 18 or over. "Tai Chi Fundamentals:" the practice of Tai Chi consists of slow, circular movements with the arms, accompanied by waist-twisting and shifting weight from one foot to the other; students learn the rudiments of Tai Chi sequence to improve concentration, relaxation abilities, and body awareness. "Yoga" is a powerful antidote to the stresses of modern-life and will do more than make you strong and flexible; it is a unique way to integrate body, mind, and spirit through stretches, postures, and relaxation.
