"Chinese 1" is an introductory Mandarin Chinese course to learn pronunciation, basic grammer and sentence patterns, cultural tips, and simple conversations. "Chinese: Reading and Writing" is designed to teach basic Chinese writing skills including stroke orders for characters, sentence patterns for simple essays, and the culture and histories in the Chinese characters.
