In this course the origin and growth of the United States is studied. It also surveys American political, economic and social development from the founding of the colonies through the Civil War. Prerequisite: English 1, 20-801-201; or Comm. Skills 1, 10-801-151; or College Reading Strategies, 10-808-101; with a C or better, or appropriate reading placement scores.
