American History 1865 to the Present is an introductory survey course covering political, social and cultural trends in the United States between the end of Civil War and the present. In addition to presenting what happened in the United States during this period, the course explores the diverse sources historians use to explain the past. Prerequisite: English 1, 20-801-201; or Comm. Skills 1, 10-801-151; or College Reading Strategies, 10-808-101; with a C or better, or appropriate reading placement scores.
