This course develops an understanding of common musical structures from both classical and popular idioms. It emphasizes literacy in standard musical notation, understanding of keys and scales, chord structure and progression, harmony writing and arranging, form and composition. Students should have taken 20-805-260, Basic Music Theory, or have permission of the instructor.
