Spanish 1 is for beginning students who feel they need more time to complete Spanish 1. This course is the first half of a curriculum that divides Spanish 1 into two semesters. It moves at a slower pace and includes an emphasis on how to learn a foreign language. The course stresses the development of basic communicative skills through practice in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Vocabulary and grammar are emphasized. A study of values and customs provides an increased awareness of the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. Course is college transferable as Spanish 1 only upon completion of both semesters.
