Intro to College Math

This is an entry-level course that reviews fundamental concepts and applications of mathematics. The course emphasizes computational and problem-solving skills with the use of a scientific calculator. Topics include fraction and decimal numbers, percent problems, graphing of data, an introduction to descriptive statistics, basic algebra (signed numbers, simple algebraic manipulations, solving linear equations, formula rearrangement, word problems, ratios and proportions), measurement, applied plane and solid geometry (angle measurements, the Pythagorean Theorem, calculating perimeters, areas and volumes), radian measure, right triangle trigonometry, and solving oblique triangles (the law of sines and cosines). Prerequisite: Basic Algebra, 77-854-793 with a grade of C or better, or appropriate placement score.
